Digital Futures researcher Emil Björnson – among the most cited in the world
Since 2001, the Highly Cited Researchers™ list has identified global research scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated exceptional influence – reflected through their publication of multiple papers frequently cited by their peers during the last decade. Researchers across the world eagerly anticipate the launch of the Highly Cited Researchers list each year, and hundreds of organizations also celebrate the inclusion of their researchers on the list.
Compiled by Clarivate, a global company that provides data and maintains the Web of Science, the annual list for 2022 identified 6,938 researchers from across the globe who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. These highly cited papers rank in the top 1% by citations for a field or fields and publication year in the Web of Science™.
On November 15, Clarivate published the list of Highly Cited Researchers™2022, and one of the named researchers is Emil Björnson, Professor of Wireless Communication at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Emil Björnson is also an IEEE Fellow, a Wallenberg Academy Fellow, a Digital Futures Fellow, an SSF Future Research Leader, as well as a Member of the Executive Committee and Associate Director at Digital Futures.
“As a researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, I am honoured and proud to be named on the Highly Cited Researchers list. The award is given to only 0.1% of all researchers in the world and is based on having published individual scientific articles that had a major impact on their research field,” says Emil Björnson. “It is not just about having many citations overall or for long and faithful service, but that individual articles and books have become particularly well read and inspired further research.”
