Seven research projects have been awarded Seed Project funding from Digital Futures to strengthen the centre’s Working Groups and further develop their respective research areas.
The Seed Projects call is designed to support the Working Groups within Digital Futures, with the aim of developing and strengthening each area in line with the centre’s strategic plan. Seven projects have been selected for funding, with each receiving SEK 500,000 for a one-year project period, running from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.
The funded projects bring together researchers from KTH, Stockholm University and RISE and cover a broad range of topics, including AI and health, environmental sensing, industry-academia collaboration, digital inclusion, AI security, research collaboration and networked intelligence.

The projects were recommended for funding by the Digital Futures management group on 15 June 2026 and subsequently approved by Digital Futures Director Karl Henrik Johansson.
Through the Seed Projects, Digital Futures supports its Working Groups in building stronger research communities, developing new collaborations and advancing their research areas in line with the centre’s strategic direction.
