Seven research projects have been awarded Proof of Concept funding from Digital Futures to explore new ideas and technologies with potential for future impact.
A total of 28 applications were received in the call. Following a recommendation from the Digital Futures management group, seven projects have now been selected for funding within the strategic research area of IT and mobile communications. Each project receives SEK 500,000 for an eight-month project period, from 1 July 2026 to 31 March 2027.
The funded projects span areas including brain-computer interfaces, medical AI, digital twins, indoor navigation, 3D mapping and sustainable AI-assisted software development.

The projects were approved by Digital Futures Director Karl Henrik Johansson on 25 June 2026, following the management group’s recommendation on 22 June.
The Proof of Concept funding is intended to support the researchers in developing and testing their ideas during the eight-month project period, laying the groundwork for further research, collaboration and potential future applications.
