Date and time: 6 May 2026, 10:00 – 15:00 including a plain lunch, limited to 20 attendees
Venue: KTH Campus, Stockholm
Organizers: Olle Bälter & Ric Glassey
Have you (or your students) ever skipped a lecture or the required reading to work on an assignment instead? Then you (and maybe your students) have intuitively realized what educational research has known for a long time: you learn best by working with problems, not by studying the theory first.
As a consequence of this, we have developed an effective method for learning with digital support: pure question-based learning. It can be seen as a digitalized version of Socratic teaching, where students first activate themselves by answering questions and then learn from the immediate feedback they receive on their answers.
Using the click data that is collected, teachers can see at group level how the class has absorbed the various learning objectives and adjust their teaching accordingly. After the course, the same data is used to determine which parts of the course work well for learning and which work less well and therefore need to be improved.
After completing the workshop, participants will come closer to the learning objectives:
- Use of research-proven question-based learning methods.
- The effect of using questions for learning and processing material.
- Critically reflect on how generative AI can be used to create questions and course material.
- Increased knowledge of how learning data can be used for learning and as a tool for teaching.
