Sebastian Prost is a Lecturer at the Centre for HCI Design at City St George’s, University of London. Prost has got an interdisciplinary background in Computer Science, Sociology, and HCI. His research and design practice sits at the intersection of food and technology. He currently works with local food networks and farmers critiquing capitalist modes of tech production and co-designing digital tools within ecological limits. He’s interested in questions of alternative economies, design justice, more-than-human relations, (un)making, hacking, social innovation/exnovation, and community-based participatory design.
He is working with Rob Comber on three parallel research and pedagogical activities. They develop a syllabus for teaching critical perspectives on AI; a grant proposal on co-designing a farm robot for ecological farming; and prototyping a soil health listening and storytelling device.
