Anne Pasek is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Media, Culture, and the Environment at Trent University in Canada. Her work explores the techno-politics of climate change with an emphasis on the growing role of the ICT sector in shaping energy markets and carbon management strategies. She has previously worked as a consultant and PI with Sustainable Subsea Networks, researching the climate impacts and mitigation potential of transoceanic telecommunication cables, and in organizing academic and civil society responses of the environmental impacts of AI in Canada. She is the co-editor of the Journal of Environmental Media.
Her time at Digital Futures will be spent exploring the historic role of digital tools in early climate policies, as well as the way the current AI boom is affecting energy markets, climate targets, and land use concerns in different communities around the world. She will also be deepening exchanges with Digital Futures faculty and students and is available for coffee most days.
