Regulation, ethics, and values in AI for higher education

Date and time: 13 May 2026, 13:00-15:00 CEST followed by mingle and refreshments until 16:00
Venue: Lärosal 25 at Albano,  Finding your way on Stockholm University campus – Stockholms universitet
Organizers: Teresa Cerratto Pargman and Cormac McGrath, Stockholm University

This seminar aims to discuss how we, as educational stakeholders, learn to become professionally responsible in the face of the growing use of AI in higher education.

This seminar brings together scholars from legal informatics, practitioners, and education technology professionals to exchange about the AI Act (the law), identify and question issues that are central to AI regulation in the European education sector, as well as the concepts of human oversight and professional autonomy of teachers. In particular, we will touch on the concepts of professional responsibility and accountability, and reflect on potential tensions between applying professional judgment and following standardized contracts, between relying on trust rather than control, and between unfolding moral rationality and legal rationality.

More information about the program and how to register on the Regulation in AEID website. The last day to register is 7 May.
