SEC scholar 5 May 2025 – 13 June 2025
Gianluca Bianchin is an Assistant Professor in the ICTEAM Institute at the Université Catholique de Louvain. From 2020 to 2022, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. Bianchin completed the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California Riverside in 2020. Before joining UC Riverside, he received an M.Sc. degree in Controls Engineering and a B.Sc. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Padova in 2014 and 2012, respectively.
During my research stay with Digital Futures, I plan to engage in collaborative research both with its network of affiliates and with researchers in the Division of Decision and Control Systems (DCS) at KTH. I am eager to establish new, long-term, and impactful collaborations on emerging problems that require solutions from algorithmic optimization and control systems. Additionally, I aim to foster industrial collaborations with the partners of Digital Futures, with the goal of developing future research projects and strategic partnerships. In parallel, I will contribute to the academic environment at Digital Futures by delivering scientific presentations on my recent research and offering a mini tutorial course on learning-based control systems.
I also look forward to conducting some exciting research with my host, Giuseppe Belgioioso, and to participating in the many research meetings, seminars, and networking events regularly organized by the center, providing an excellent opportunity to engage with this vibrant interdisciplinary research community.
