HRI Pioneers Mingle at Digital Futures – Bringing Together Researchers from All over the World!

On March 14th, around 60 researchers gathered at Digital Futures at the HRI Pioneers mingle event. The event was organized by Sanne van Waveren and Bryce Ikeda, the General Chairs of the 18th annual Human-Robot Interaction Pioneers Workshop, which was held on March 13th, 2023, in conjunction with the 2023 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) the same week.

The HRI Pioneers mingle was organized together with Digital Futures. The event brought together HRI Pioneers cohorts from the last 17 years, the earliest being the 2006 cohort. For many attendees, it was their first meeting in person after years of remote events. The mingle was a highly interactive event at the Digital Futures Hub in which participants could network and discuss research ideas, career opportunities, and advice.

About the HRI Pioneers workshop
The HRI Pioneers workshop seeks to foster creativity and collaboration surrounding key challenges in human-robot interaction and empower students early in their academic careers. The workshop brings together a cohort of the world’s top student researchers each year. It provides the opportunity for students to present and discuss their work with distinguished student peers and senior scholars in the field.
