SEC scholar 22 May 2025 – 1 August 2025
Dr. Yamin Yan is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Before joining NTU, she was a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering and the CKS Robotics Institute at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) from 2021 to 2023. During 2021 to 2024, she also served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Newcastle (UoN), Australia, and worked as a Research Associate at UoN from 2018 to 2021. She received her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2017. Her research interests include networked systems and control, security control of cyber-physical systems, computational intelligence, and their applications.
During her stay at Digital Futures, Dr. Yan will collaborate with Prof. Angela Fontan and her team to develop learning-based control strategies that offer provable performance guarantees in cyber-physical-human systems. The focus will be on ensuring adaptability, resilience, and scalable decision-making in systems subject to uncertainty and human interaction, with applications in social networks, transportation, smart buildings, and sustainable food systems. She will also engage with the Division of Decision and Control Systems (DCS) at KTH and the interdisciplinary Digital Futures community by contributing to seminars, workshops, research meetings, and panel discussions. The visit aims to foster long-term academic and industrial partnerships and to strengthen collaboration between Digital Futures, NTU, and the broader Asia-Pacific engineering community.
