Daniel Forslund – promoter of research and innovation for a more resilient and efficient society

Research focusing on societal challenges was the theme of a Digital Futures seminar organized on 29 April to pay tribute to Daniel Forslund for his leadership in Digital Futures and Digital Demo Stockholm.

As Chairman of the Innovation and Development Committee of Region Stockholm, Daniel Forslund has been a board member of Digital Futures’ Industrial and Societal Board. Before that, he was Chairman of the board of Digital Demo Stockholm, promoting collaboration for innovation in the Stockholm region. He now moves on to the Association of Private Care Providers, where he will be responsible for developing digitalization, research, innovation, and Life Science.

– With his energy, drive, and clear direction, Daniel Forslund has had a pivotal role in the collaboration between academia, public and private sectors on digital transformation, and we look forward to continued cooperation in his new role, says Mikael Östlund, Deputy President at KTH and Chairman of Digital Futures Industrial and Societal Board.

The seminar included presentations by seven Digital Futures and Digital Demo Stockholm projects – all addressing societal challenges. They cover topics such as connectivity of autonomous vehicles, energy-efficient healthcare, using sensor technology for online physiotherapy, and machine learning for reliable diagnoses, prognoses, and more effective treatment of brain diseases.

– The cavalcade of inspiring examples at this seminar shows the results of our joint efforts and how innovation and collaboration can create entirely new solutions to societal challenges; I am honored to be part of this community, says Daniel Forslund.
