On 20 February 2026, a delegation from the Greek Ministry of Data Governance visited Digital Futures for a morning of presentations and lab tours focused on artificial intelligence, data governance, cybersecurity and sustainable systems. The visit brought together Greek representatives and researchers from KTH Royal Institute of Technology to exchange insights on digital transformation and emerging technologies.
The program opened with a welcome by Annika Szabo Portela, Executive Director of Digital Futures, joined by Urban Forssell, Marco Molinari and Frank Jang. They presented the centre’s interdisciplinary research agenda and the Stockholm Digital Sandbox, which supports experimentation and collaboration in data-driven innovation and AI.
The delegation also learned about the KTH Live-In Lab, presented by its Director Marco Molinari. The full-scale testbed enables evaluation of sustainable building technologies and smart living solutions in real residential settings, using data and digital tools to improve energy efficiency and housing design.
Professor Panagiotis “Panos” Papadimitratos called for expanding and deepening national investment in cybersecurity and privacy — from research to deployment across rapidly evolving networked and data-driven systems. He emphasized strengthening long-term research capacity, reinforcing collaboration with European technology leaders, and embedding security into national data strategies as essential to resilience, technological sovereignty, and trusted digital transformation.

The visit concluded with guided tours of KTH labs working on sustainable society, production and mobility systems led by Assistant Professor Georgios Andrikopoulos:
- Moveability Promobilia Lab, hosted by Prof. Elena Gutierrez Farewik,
- Marinarium Lab, hosted by Assoc. Prof. Ivan Stenius,
- AD-EYE testbed and TECoSA center, hosted by Prof. Martin Törngren and Dr. José Manuel Gaspar Sánchez,
- Robot Design Lab hosted by Asst. Prof. Georgios Andrikopoulos.
The Greek delegation—Christos Bouras and Vicky Vlachou, Advisors to the Minister; Stavroula Bolou, Head of the Directorate of Data Governance; and Anna Chartofyli, Advisor to the Minister —engaged in discussions with KTH participants, marking a productive exchange and reinforcing the importance of continued collaboration on secure and sustainable digital innovation.
