Georgia (Gia) Destouni, Professor of Hydrology and Water Resources at Stockholm University and Guest Professor of Engineering Hydrology at KTH, as well as a member of the Digital Futures Faculty, has been elected Fellow of the International Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences (AAIS).
“I am honoured to be elected a Fellow of the International Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences. I see this as recognition of the growing importance of combining AI and digital technologies with knowledge from environmental and Earth sciences to address complex societal challenges,” says Gia Destouni.
AAIS brings together researchers and experts across disciplines to advance the development and application of artificial intelligence. The Fellowship recognises distinguished contributions to AI and its interdisciplinary applications.
Destouni’s research combines hydrology, water resources and environmental science with digital transformation, including AI and machine learning approaches. Her work addresses major challenges related to water, climate change and environmental sustainability.
The AAIS Fellowship adds to a series of international recognitions for Destouni, including election to the US National Academy of Engineering and the Academy of Athens.
