Beyond the algorithm: AI Film Festival sparks debate in Stockholm

A thought-provoking film festival is turning the spotlight on the hidden impacts of artificial intelligence—inviting audiences to look beyond the hype and into the real-world consequences of AI.

Organized by researcher Francesca Larosa, the festival has already drawn strong interest in Stockholm, with packed screenings and engaged discussions exploring how AI affects both society and the environment. Through films and expert panels, attendees are encouraged to question the resources, labor, and power structures behind today’s AI systems.

The festival concludes on April 14 with the Swedish premiere of In the Belly of AI at Bio Skandia—an event promising not only cinematic insight but also a critical conversation about building a more responsible and sustainable AI future.

With its blend of storytelling and debate, the festival offers a rare opportunity to “make the invisible visible” and inspire new ways of thinking about one of today’s most influential technologies.
